There are 96 billion reasons to be vegan… They all have eyes, and feelings (and I believe they have souls)… And that’s just the number of land animals slaughtered worldwide each year. If you figure in the three trillion marine animals who are killed annually, then there are actually trillions of reasons to be vegan… And each one is an entirely valid reason, because each one is an individual living being, who is capable of feeling both happiness and pain.
In all my reading and googling, I’ve come across many different numbers for how many land animals, fish, and marine animals are murdered globally each year. So, the above numbers may not be exactly correct, but this is not an exam, and the exact number does not matter. What matters is, these are living beings, and humans are harming them with great cruelty in great numbers.
For instance, chickens, who love to live freely in the sunshine, are crammed into horrific sheds by the thousands to be fattened and ready for slaughter. They are by far the most slaughtered land animal in the world, accounting for about 72 billion of the land animals killed each year.
It is time for a vegan world — a world of kindness and mercy to the chickens, and to all the animals of land and sea. All of those beautiful, sensitive beings are earthlings who are here *with* us, not for us. They are revolving around our beloved sun star with us. It is time for humankind to free the non-human animals from their enslavement, slaughter, and suffering.
